Anabaptist Helper Circle

Online Workers Serving Offline Businesses

Good Businesses Are Getting Left Behind

You understand why some Anabaptist business owners still haven't embraced the internet. It's not that they can't figure it out. They've just chosen a different path. They or the churches they belong to have decided the internet's upside isn't worth its downside. They've chosen to operate with limited internet access, or none at all.

One person getting left behind

The challenge is this: Customers expect to find things online. They leave reviews on Google. They send emails. They use web search to find companies and products. And when a business is invisible online, it can have the world's best offerings and lose out to inferior competitors who know the online game.

That's where you come in.

When a business is invisible online, it can have the world's best products or services and lose out to inferior competitors who know the online game.

You're Perfect for This If...

...You can engage both worlds: the mostly-offline conservative Anabaptists, and the online customers eager to do business with them.

...You can handle simple online tasks with ease, but you deeply understand the values that keep many Anabaptist businesses offline.

...You welcome the challenge of helping businesses grow without dragging them into a world of tech they'd rather avoid.

...You can represent a Christian small business online with integrity and consistency.

Assistant Working in Office

When you answer emails for that woodworking shop, you understand the care that goes into each piece. When you respond to reviews for the family restaurant, you know why they close on Ascension Day. When you post updates for the quilt shop, you appreciate the tradition behind the patterns.

As part of the Helper Circle, you'll become part of a network protecting a simpler way of life. A clean, functional buffer between traditional communities and the global economy trying to swallow them.

Who Qualifies

The basic qualifications for every Helper:

  • Share an Anabaptist worldview and understand why it matters
  • Can work respectfully with conservative businesses who want to preserve a countercultural way of doing business
  • Appreciate traditional values but can use modern tools
  • Recognize technology as a good servant but a bad master

Anyone can learn to run a computer, but only a few have the worldview and perspective to serve Plain clients well. As a Helper, that's what you'll be paid to bring to the table.

What You'll Do

Meet Hannah. She runs a bakery and makes the best dinner rolls in three counties. But she doesn't do computers and doesn't want to. Sometimes people leave reviews for her bakery online, but they never get a response.

As a Helper, you become Hannah's online voice. A few times a week, you check her business email and respond warmly to customer inquiries. You thank people for good reviews and look for ways to gracefully resolve the iffy ones. Maybe you post a photo of this week's special.

Now Hannah can focus on baking with the peace of mind that whatever's happening online is being taken care of. Her customers can connect with her business using the tools they're used to. You spend a couple of hours a week making sure everyone's happy and cash your modest paycheck at the end of the month.

Now multiply that by several businesses:

  • The Zimmerman family's furniture shop
  • Rebecca's quilt and fabric store
  • The Stoltzfus greenhouse and nursery
  • Samuel's harness and leather goods shop

Each one might only need you for a few hours a week. You get acquainted with each and help them succeed—all on your schedule and without leaving home.

Pioneers Wanted

Esrify is still in launch phase, so we don't know how many businesses will sign up or how much time they'll need. Joining the Helper Circle early doesn't guarantee you'll be connected with a client, but it ensures you'll be among the first we call when new businesses sign up. Depending on your skills and our needs, Esrify's parent company Bonflare may hire you for our own remote work as well.

If you're ready to join the Helper Circle, just fill out the survey. Our team will review your application and let you know if you've been accepted.
